Tabba app · Last updated: 15 June 2026

Tabba is a food diary app published by Doongu. Our principle is simple: your data belongs to you and stays, by default, only on your device. This page explains which data is processed and how.

1. No account, no profiling

Tabba requires no account creation. We do not collect your name, your email address, or any advertising identifier. We use no tracking, analytics or advertising tools, and we never sell any data.

2. Data stored on your device

The information you enter is saved locally on your phone:

  • your meals and foods (label, date, calories, protein and other macros);
  • your favourites, personal goals and preferences (language, units, diet);
  • your alert and reminder settings.

This data does not leave your device unless you enable a backup or an export on your own initiative.

3. Export and backup to your cloud

You can export your data in JSON format to keep or transfer it. You can also enable an optional backup to your own Google Drive (private appDataFolder app folder). In that case:

  • the connection is made through your Google account, with minimal permissions;
  • the data is stored in your Drive space, which Doongu cannot access;
  • this backup stays disabled until you start it.

4. Meal photos

If you add a photo to a meal, it is saved in a public "Tabba" gallery on your phone, with a local display copy in the app. Photos are never included in the cloud backup or sent to our servers. If you delete a photo from your gallery, the app will simply show "photo unavailable".

5. Online features (optional)

Some features query third-party services, only when you use them:

  • Barcode scanning: the request is sent to OpenFoodFacts to retrieve a product's information. Only the barcode is transmitted.
  • Generic food database: nutritional data from the CIQUAL database (ANSES), bundled in the app (no data leaves the device).
  • Photo estimation (AI): if you enter your own API key ("bring your own key"), the photo and your request are sent to the AI provider you chose (e.g. Mistral or a compatible service). Your key is stored encrypted on the device and is never sent to Doongu. Use of this service is governed by the terms of the provider you select.

6. Notifications

Reminders and alerts (goals, hydration) are generated locally by your phone. They are off by default, fully optional, and rely on no server.

7. Deleting your data

You stay in full control: you can delete an entry, clear the app, or uninstall it to wipe all local data. If you had enabled the Drive backup, you can delete the corresponding files from your Google account.

8. Children

Tabba is not intended for children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any data concerning them.

9. Changes

This policy may evolve with the app. The last-updated date is shown at the top of this page.
